Passion and Progress

Eric Beckman, IPS PowerServe, NETA PresidentColumns, President's Desk, Summer 2024 Columns

With my term as NETA’s Board President coming to a close, it seems fitting that the theme of the Summer 2024 issue of  NETA World is Transformers in that I have had the privilege of serving NETA during a transformative time in the Association’s history.

Thanks to the dedication of our Board of Directors, volunteers, members, and partners, NETA emerged from the pandemic bruised but not battered; continued a period of historic growth, including the first InterNational NETA Accredited Company (INAC); internalized accounting, operations, and member services; and took a leadership position in shaping how NFPA 70B benefits our industry and our customers.

During that time, our Board led, our committee members served, and our members responded to not only strengthen our Association but to expand our influence for the good of our industry and the benefit of our nation’s infrastructure. It has been my honor to have a front-row seat to that passion and that progress.

And the future of NETA looks even brighter.

2024 kicked off with a record-setting PowerTest24 Conference in March, where your support reinforced NETA’s leadership role in setting the standard for electrical testing, and the January launch of the NETA-administered QEMC qualification program will serve to strengthen our customer’s expectations of excellence in the maintenance of electrical equipment.

Additionally, NETA will host EPIC, the Electrical Power Innovations Conference, on October 14–15, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, where industry professionals defining the next generation of electrical power advancements, innovations, reliability, and safety will gather to share a vision of industry leadership out ahead.

In passing the President’s gavel to Dan Hook, CBS Field Services, let me express my deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve our industry. An Association is only as good as the people it serves, and NETA serves the industry’s best.
