Our Most Important Job Is Working Safely

James CialdeaColumns, President's Desk, Summer 2019 Columns

It was great seeing everyone at Power Test 2019 in Texas! The event went very well, and that’s due to our sponsors, Corporate Alliance Partners, trade show vendors, and most important — the hard work and dedication of the NETA Staff. Mark your calendars for PowerTest 2020 in Chicago February 24 – 28, 2020, and make plans to join us next year.

Safety is the focus of this issue of NETA World. Working safely is the most important part of what we do every day. There is no job in the world that is worth getting injured over. Understanding how to be safe and practicing and thinking safety is our first line of protection. You’ll see some great articles in this issue — read them thoroughly and discuss the ideas with your coworkers so that they, too, can work more safely.

This is my last President’s message. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your President. Scott Blizard will take over in June. Scott has contributed so much to NETA and the industry, and I know that he will be a great President and ambassador for our Association. Let’s all help Scott by getting involved. Join a committee, present a paper, or write an article. If you’re looking for ways to contribute to the profession, I’m sure Scott can steer you in the right direction.

Let’s all work safely — all the time. Watch out for the people who work around you and visit your sites. Think and act safely first — always.
